Deteriorating surfaces and safety concerns saw it shortened substantially in the early 1990s to roughly the configuration used today\, which kept the elevation change and the character while losing much of the length. It remains a compact lap by modern standards\, and one of the few anticlockwise circuits in the championship. \nWhen was its first Grand Prix?\nThe Brazilian Grand Prix first ran at Interlagos as a non-championship event in 1972\, joining the world championship in 1973. The race alternated with Rio de Janeiro’s Jacarepagua through the 1980s before returning permanently to São Paulo in 1990. Renamed the São Paulo Grand Prix in recent years\, it has produced an outsized share of the sport’s memorable finishes and championship deciders\, helped by its late-season slot and famously fickle weather. \nWhat’s the circuit like?\nShort\, steep and relentlessly good. The lap runs anticlockwise\, dropping through the Senna S into a long\, loaded left-hander\, then out onto a back section before an uphill charge to the line that effectively makes the last corner and the main straight one long overtaking zone. Downforce levels are medium\, brakes have an easier time than at most venues\, and the sustained left-hand loading works one side of the tyres considerably harder than the other. Overtaking is plentiful by modern standards. The surface is bumpy\, the elevation change is severe\, and a car that rides the compressions well is worth a lot. \nWhy go?\nInterlagos has the most partisan and most joyful crowd on the calendar\, and a compact venue where you can see a genuine chunk of the lap from most seats. November in São Paulo is warm and humid with a high chance of a dramatic afternoon storm\, which is part of the appeal given how many races here have been decided by rain. The city is enormous and full of life\, the food is excellent\, and the racing has a habit of mattering because the round falls near the end of the season. \nWhere is the best place to watch?\nSector A\, the main grandstand area above the start-finish straight\, gives you the pit lane\, the start and the run down into the Senna S\, which is where most passes finish. Sector B on the outside of the Senna S puts you at the heaviest braking point. The Sector M grandstands near the final corner cover the uphill charge and the slipstream battles. Because the venue sits in a natural bowl\, even general admission areas offer views across multiple parts of the circuit\, which is rare.

SUMMARY:Las Vegas Grand Prix 2026
DESCRIPTION:Las Vegas\n \n Autodromo Nazionale di Monza\n\n \n \n Monza\, Italy • Map\n \n \n\n \n First race1950\n Races held76\n Most winsLewis Hamilton (5)\n Most wins (team)Ferrari (20)\n Most polesLewis Hamilton (7)\n \n\n \n Last 10 winners2026 – Andrea Kimi Antonelli2025 – Max Verstappen2024 – Charles Leclerc2023 – Max Verstappen2022 – Max Verstappen2021 – Daniel Ricciardo2020 – Pierre Gasly2019 – Charles Leclerc2018 – Lewis Hamilton2017 – Lewis Hamilton\n Last 10 poles2026 – Pierre Gasly2025 – Max Verstappen2024 – Lando Norris2023 – Carlos Sainz2022 – Charles Leclerc2021 – Valtteri Bottas2020 – Lewis Hamilton2019 – Charles Leclerc2018 – Kimi Räikkönen2017 – Lewis Hamilton\n \n \n \nWhen was the track built?\nThe Las Vegas Strip Circuit was assembled for the 2023 race on existing public roads\, including a long stretch of the Strip itself\, with a purpose-built pit and paddock complex constructed nearby as the one permanent element. Preparation involved substantial resurfacing of the city’s roads and a barrier and fencing operation that goes up and comes down around a functioning tourist district each year. It is a temporary circuit in the fullest sense\, and an unusually large logistical exercise even by street-race standards. \nWhen was its first Grand Prix?\nThe first race on this layout was held in November 2023. Las Vegas had hosted Formula 1 before\, in 1981 and 1982\, on a very different circuit laid out in a hotel car park\, an event remembered more for its oddity than its quality. The modern race is a separate proposition entirely\, run late at night through the middle of the city. With only a handful of runnings so far\, the form book here is thin and should be treated with caution. \nWhat’s the circuit like?\nA power circuit dressed as a street race. Long straights\, including the run down the Strip\, dominate the lap\, so teams strip wing levels back towards Monza territory and live with the consequences in the slower corners. That produces very high top speeds and real overtaking chances into the heavy braking zones. The defining problem is temperature: the race runs late at night in the desert in November\, and getting tyres and brakes into their working range is genuinely difficult. Graining and lock-ups are common. Walls are close\, run-off is minimal\, and the surface takes a while to rubber in. \nWhy go?\nIt is a spectacle first and a motor race second\, and it does not pretend otherwise. Cars run past casinos at three hundred kilometres an hour in the small hours\, the entertainment budget is conspicuous\, and the city is set up for exactly this sort of thing. November nights are cold enough to need proper clothing\, which surprises people. Sessions run very late\, so plan your sleep accordingly. Prices are high across the board\, and the atmosphere is more show business than motorsport pilgrimage\, but the Strip at speed is a genuinely striking sight. \nWhere is the best place to watch?\nThe grandstands along the Strip give you the signature view of cars at full speed against the casino frontages. Stands at the end of that straight cover the heaviest braking and the most likely overtaking. The Sphere-adjacent seating and the East Harmon area offer the corner sequences where cars are actually being driven rather than just travelling fast. The main grandstand near the pit complex covers the start and pit stops. Skyboxes and hotel-view packages are plentiful if the budget stretches\, though sightlines vary.

Its floodlighting system\, installed for night racing later that decade\, was among the most extensive in motorsport at the time. Ahead of Formula 1’s return in 2023 the circuit received significant upgrades\, including new pit and paddock facilities and\, importantly\, resurfacing and revised kerbs after the first grand prix exposed problems with tyre wear. \nWhen was its first Grand Prix?\nFormula 1 first raced at Lusail in 2021\, a late addition to a disrupted calendar\, and then returned from 2023 on a long-term deal. That makes it one of the newer venues in championship terms\, with only a handful of grands prix to draw on. Its short history has already been eventful\, taking in tyre failures\, a punishing heat-related edition that drew attention to driver welfare\, and mandatory stint limits imposed on safety grounds. \nWhat’s the circuit like?\nFaster and more flowing than its reputation suggests. The lap is built around a long sequence of medium and high-speed corners\, with a substantial main straight for a breather and one genuinely heavy braking zone. Downforce levels sit high\, and the sustained lateral loading through those sweeps is the hardest test of tyre construction on the calendar\, which is why stint limits have been necessary. Kerbs have been a source of tyre damage. Brakes have a comparatively easy weekend. Overtaking is largely confined to the main straight and the first corner\, so track position carries weight. \nWhy go?\nA late-November desert night race with mild evening temperatures and clear skies\, which is about as pleasant as motorsport spectating gets after the European season has closed. Doha is compact\, modern and easy to move around\, with the souq and the waterfront worth a day either side. The circuit sits a short drive from the city. The crowd is smaller and quieter than the South American or Italian rounds\, so if you value comfortable access and a good view without the crush\, it makes a strong case for itself. \nWhere is the best place to watch?\nThe main grandstand covers the start\, the pit lane and the braking into Turn 1\, which is where the overtaking happens. Grandstands overlooking the fast sweeps in the middle sector show the cars at their most impressive\, loaded up and changing direction at speed. The final-corner seating gives you the exit onto the long straight and the setup for a pass. Because the race runs under lights\, the visual quality from almost any seat is high. Sightlines are generally good given the flat\, open desert site.

SUMMARY:Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2026
DESCRIPTION:Abu Dhabi\n \n Autodromo Nazionale di Monza\n\n \n \n Monza\, Italy • Map\n \n \n\n \n First race1950\n Races held76\n Most winsLewis Hamilton (5)\n Most wins (team)Ferrari (20)\n Most polesLewis Hamilton (7)\n \n\n \n Last 10 winners2026 – Andrea Kimi Antonelli2025 – Max Verstappen2024 – Charles Leclerc2023 – Max Verstappen2022 – Max Verstappen2021 – Daniel Ricciardo2020 – Pierre Gasly2019 – Charles Leclerc2018 – Lewis Hamilton2017 – Lewis Hamilton\n Last 10 poles2026 – Pierre Gasly2025 – Max Verstappen2024 – Lando Norris2023 – Carlos Sainz2022 – Charles Leclerc2021 – Valtteri Bottas2020 – Lewis Hamilton2019 – Charles Leclerc2018 – Kimi Räikkönen2017 – Lewis Hamilton\n \n \n \nWhen was the track built?\nYas Marina was purpose-built on Yas Island as part of a large leisure development\, opening in 2009 after a lavish construction programme. The site includes a marina\, a hotel that straddles the track\, and a pit exit that runs through a tunnel beneath it\, all of which say a good deal about the design priorities. The layout was substantially revised in 2021\, with a tight hairpin section opened out and the slow chicane sequence removed\, specifically to improve a race that had become predictable. \nWhen was its first Grand Prix?\nThe Abu Dhabi Grand Prix debuted in 2009 as the season finale\, and has closed the championship almost every year since. Its permanent place at the end of the calendar has given it a disproportionate share of title deciders\, including several of the most consequential and contested finishes in the sport’s history. That slot also means the venue frequently hosts the sport’s post-season tyre and rookie testing\, so teams arrive with more data about it than most. \nWhat’s the circuit like?\nA circuit of contrasts that never quite hangs together as a whole. Two long straights joined by heavy braking zones dominate the opening half of the lap\, followed by a flowing coastal section around the marina and hotel that rewards rhythm. Downforce is medium\, brake demand is high given the two big stops\, and tyre degradation is generally modest with the track at its coolest in the evening. The 2021 revisions made overtaking meaningfully better\, particularly into Turn 5 and the following straight. Grip improves noticeably as the sun sets and the surface cools through the session. \nWhy go?\nIt is the season finale\, which gives the weekend an occasion regardless of whether the championship is still live\, and the event is built around comfort. December in Abu Dhabi is warm and dry\, the venue is spotless\, and the race runs from daylight into dusk which is genuinely beautiful. Concerts follow the chequered flag\, the island has theme parks and beaches for anyone not entirely committed to motorsport\, and Dubai is an hour and a half away. Expensive\, immaculate\, and an easy sell to travelling companions. \nWhere is the best place to watch?\nThe North Grandstand at Turn 1 covers the start and the first braking zone. The West Grandstand overlooks the long straight and the heavy stop at Turn 6\, where most of the overtaking now happens. The Main Grandstand gives you the pit lane\, the finish and the concert stage access. The Marina Grandstand offers the yachts\, the hotel and the sunset\, which is the view that ends up in everyone’s photographs. Sightlines are uniformly good and the facilities are the best on the calendar.
